Hitachi Power Tools Australia lending a helping hand to the unsung heroes of Guide Dogs NSW/ACT

We all see the advertisements of playful newly born puppies but seldom think of all the hard work and dedication the staff put in behind the scenes of the Guide Dogs Association. The Guide Dogs NSW/ACT centre relies on groundskeeper, handyman and jack of all trades, Wooly. Wooly is often tinkering in the shed making new training aids for the 25 acre training track, mowing the fields and providing constant maintenance to all the facilities.
Wooly’s tools were falling to pieces, constantly breaking down, so when Hitachi offered to donate a wish list of tools, Wooly was wrapped. Hitachi Power Tools Australia fit out the tool shed with everything from cordless drills and impact wrenches to a metal cut off saw and drill press. Graeme Mitchell, Centre Manager of Guide Dogs NSW/ACT said ‘The supply of these tools will enable us to carry out more work in house and subsequently save money which in turn can be spent on producing more Guide Dogs’.
The new tools came in handy especially with fitting out of the new Toyota Hiace vans that Chatswood Toyota recently delivered to the training centre. Chatswood Toyota has been supplying Guide Dogs NSW / ACT with new Toyota’s for a number of years and is proud to have been able to help Graeme and the team out with the tools they need to run and maintain their wonderful facility.
‘I cannot thank you enough for your generosity, it is an area that rarely receives support as it is not as cute as the pups, however it’s important to our needs for supporting the day to day functions of the complex’ said Centre Manager Graeme Mitchell.
